MOMS DATE BARS

Preheat oven to 350*

1 1/2 cups flour

  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup chopped Nuts
  • 2 1/2 cups Rolled Oats
  • 1 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Shortning- melted.

    Grease 13x9 cake pan, combine first 6 items, add melted shrotning, mix well.

    Press 1/2 dough firmly into Pan. Spread with filling, but not to edge.

    cover with rest of dough, pat down well.

    Bake 25-35 minutes.

    DATE FILLING

    2 7 1/4 oz pkg Pitted Dates

  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 3/4 Cup Light Kayro Surup/Corn Surup
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tabs Grated Orange Peel
  • 1/4 cup Orange juice.

    Simmer all items, stirring until thick. -cool-
