Monkey Bread

1/2 cup butter                                                                                                                                preheat oven to 375*

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup finely chopped pecans (optional)

1 Tb cinnamon

3 cans buttermilk biscuts

Prepare Bundt pan or angelfood cake pan by coating inside with cooking spray or butter and set aside.

melt 1/2 cup of margarine or butter in a bowl. In another bowl, mix sugar, nuts, and cinnamon.

Open one can of biscuits and separate.

cut each biscuit into four sections and roll each section into a ball. Put each ball into the sugar mixture and coat, then drop into pan. After finishing the first can of biscuits, drizzle a little melted butter evenly over the top of this first layer. Repeat these steps for the next two cans of buscuits. if using a angel food pan you may need a fourth can of buscuits.

Sprinkle the remaining sugar mixtureover the top and bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.

When done, remove from the oven and let cool for a minute or two. then turn onto a plate and carefully remove the pan. If you leave the bread in the pan it will stick and be difficult to remove.

I have found a recipe in a old cookbook for this type of bread made from scratch called something else.  you can make this recipe from scratch using a basic sweet bread recipe.
